  3. Presentation on tick-borne diseases

    Please join the Hingham Health Department as we host Dr. Catherine Brown, DVM, MSC, MPH, the MA State Public Health Veterinarian. Dr. Brown will be presenting on tick-borne diseases. Tick-borne diseases, especially those transmitted by the black-legged tick (often referred to as the deer tick), are a significant medical and public health problem in Massachusetts. Understanding what we know about these ticks and the diseases they carry is the first step in preventing disease in yourself and your family. This talk will include information about the landscape changes in Massachusetts that have contributed to the tick-borne disease problem, who gets these diseases and what you can do to help protect yourself. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions!
